More of the same racing, we did some 1250s last night which went very poorly, and then some 1500s this morning which went pretty well. The lineup I posted in my last blog entry still stands, though I think there might be one or two more switches coming up. The boat is supposed to be officially set tomorrow, so selection is definitely winding down. It is sad to know that I won't get to hang out with the guys who get cut. I have become friends with a couple of them, and I probably wont get a chance to hang out again unless our paths cross again farther down the rowing path. At the same time, several guys who appear to be in the boat are getting a little cocky, and are starting to get on my nerves. I hope everything will settle down once the lineups are completely fixed, and we start to look towards the world championships. It always takes a while for a new boat to find itself, for everyone to figure out their role, and for personalities to mesh with, or at least tolerate each other.
I just got back from an epic breakfast at Lou's diner: three big blueberry pancakes and 3 breakfast tacos with eggs, bacon, salsa, guacamole, and sour cream on them. As full as I am now, I was pretty much blown out of the water by Neil McPeak, who had 6 tacos and 3 pancakes. I'm gonna go take an epic nap. Thanks to doctor Dave for your midnight milkshake advice, but I would prefer not come back from winter break having gained 20 lbs and -4 erg splits. That was harsh, sorry Dave. Keep up the comments, they make me feel like my blog is actually read by somebody besides my parents and myself.
Haha! My splits were definitely better when I cam back +25 lbs. and rested than when I left at a withering 175. I'm pretty sure I pulled a 1:44.7 6k split on the end of Fall erg test... the pinnacle of my rowing career!
ReplyDeleteI was always a fan of just being permanently +25 lbs.
ReplyDeleteKeep doin good things, Newby, well done at Lou's. I almost got diarrhea just reading about it.
i'm gonna have to think about that weight gain trick or else i'll never stop weighing at "coxswain + 6lbs."
ReplyDeleteguess that means i'll have to start getting a decent amount of sleep...
you weren't kidding about the rowing, sleeping and eating thing.
