leander fixture

Here are some photos from the leander fixture.  The first two are from the Goldie-Leander II race.  I put them up because they are hilarious.  After getting up about 6 seats up, the Leander II cox steered into Goldie, to the point where Dan O'Shaughnessy, the two seat, couldnt put his blade in.  Like any irrationally angry and bloodthirsty rower, he decided to smash his blade into the opposition's boat to try and do some damage to the hull.  Needless to say, both parties were not happy, and some harsh words were exchanged after the race.
After the race we went to dinner at Leander club, and tensions were a bit high.  We tried to defend Dan, but these photos kinda ruin our defence.  (who knew that Brits spell defense with a 'c'?).  Dan is currently a member of Leander Club, but we expect a letter revoking his membership in the mail soon.  He will frame it.

tomorrow we have the fixture against the tideway scullers.  I wrote about their boat a few weeks ago in this blog; pretty much some of the biggest names in rowing.  Should be fun.

  1. Ah, so that's what happened...I didn't think that looked like normal rowing. I'd say if you steer your crew, hull, or oars within oar distance of another boat, anything is fair game. I'm still looking for a bowman of a trailing boat to knock out a coxswain of a leading boat with a swift blow to the head. Good luck today!
