the blue boat

After exactly 5 months of training, the coaches finalized the Blue Boat last night.  I made it!  While the selections weren't a surprise to anybody, and the announcement was largely a formality, it really feels good to say that I made the Blue Boat; something of a burden off my shoulders.  After the announcement I sat in the Captain's room staring at the wall panel where my name will appear (Lord willing!) after March 29th. I was trying to enjoy the moment, but I must confess I felt a bit silly, and more than a bit tired.  The squad went out for some drinks which was nice, a welcome respite from a tough weekend of training and months of selection.  Tomorrow I will get measured for my Blues blazer! (blazers are the british equivalent of a letterman's jacket, but more formal).
