A former Cambridge rower with us (Spencer Hunsberger), pulled me aside, saying "let me handle this". He whipped out his phone, and called the owner of the club. After a short chat with the owner and the bouncer, they waved us through, no questions asked! While I am not a regular clubber, this was an completely extraordinary experience for me.

i'm kinda a big deal
no joke. All the rumors and tall tales I heard about rowing for Cambridge are true. It is a really friggin big deal. At least in Cambridge it is. The last two nights, I have gone to local Cambridge clubs with teammates. On both occasions, we have skipped long lines worth at least an hour's wait . Our party was escorted in to a private booth, and were served free drinks. On one of the occasions, the bouncer tried to stop me from entering because I was "wearing trainers". I immediately started to argue that my shoes were not trainers despite the opinion of the bouncer, and furthermore that the bouncer himself was wearing trainers.
