something about GB

Theres some thing about GB rowing that raises my hackles. Don't ask me what a hackle is, cause I dont know. I do know, however, that watching this race got me excited. There is something really exciting to me about watching the Britons lose.
Perhaps its because the guys I train with are going faster than the world champions. Perhaps its caused by the same reasons that make me excited when the Yankees lose. Perhaps it comes from a year spent in England watching my perception of English accents fall from "charming" and "distinguished" to "pedestrian" and "slightly obnoxious". Perhaps it comes from watching last year's rowing World Championships with a horde of GB fans who acted like it was a national tragedy whenever GB didnt win a race. Perhaps its because the US is a former colony. I don't know. I don't dislike the GB guys in the slightest; I have friends and former teammates on the squad, and in general they seem like good guys. But for some reason, I like to see them lose.
